Bible Study 9 July 2024

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfilment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

What we just read:

Christ is not only our saviour but also our unifier and going into our season of fellowship this texts helps us to understand a bit better how our identity in Christ enables us to strengthen our relationship with one another.

Questions

  1. What are spiritual blessings (v.3)? What are some that you think are visible in your life?

  2. What does it mean for our fellowship with our fellow believers that we have been ‘adopted through Christ’ (v.5)

  3. God’s salvation plan is not only bringing about true unity between heaven and earth (v.10) but greater unity between people, how should we treat one another to also create greater unity in our community?

Conclusion

Ask God to make visible in your life not only the spiritual blessings He has bestowed on you but also to show you how He desires you to use them and how they also contribute to His desire to see greater unity amongst people.
